These days we can get any recipe you dream off in the internet. However there is such a pleasure to copy old fashioned recipes that we have in the family. My daughter is going to be married this July and I am coping some recipes for her. Those recipes have been with our family for a long time. Some are from my mother in law and her mother. I remember the kids when they were very young with mouth fall eating from food made from these recipes. Those are things that brings good memories from the past. I hope she will make these recipes for her own little kids some day. The old recipe on the left is written by hand by her greatgrandmother and the other was was one of the recipes given to me by her grandmother (my mother in law.) Some of those recipes were used by mother in law since she was early married, so they are vintage recipe for sure! :)
Wishing a great Easter to all of you!

Desejando uma boa Pascua a todos!

  2. Handwritten family recipes - what a beautiful present for your daughter! My mother in law typed up all her old recipes cards (some handwritten by her own grandmother), and threw away the originals!!

  3. Elisa - Thank you! I think she will like to have those given to her.
Francesca - How sad that your other-in-law threw away the originals. They would be real treasures now a days. But at least she kept the recipes which is wonderful.

  4. What a great idea that you are making copies of old family recipes for your daughter.
Thankyou for your Easter greetings on News From Italy. We did have a good Easter despite the weather being cold, the best day was yesterday, Pasquetta as the Monday is called here when Italians go out for the day having spent Easter Sunday with family. I will need extra exercise this week after eating Hot X Buns and chocolate.

Bjs!

  7. I also copied family recipes for my daughters! It would have been easier and faster to type them on the computer and print them, but the joy I experienced hand writing each one on recipe cards I designed myself would have been lost. I love knowing someday when I'm long gone my girls will be reading my handwriting and remembering mom as they cook my our recipes. I'm thrilled that you did this too and to know others are still taking time to do things like this. (And that I'm not nuts! : )Your daughter will cherish this gift. Congratulations on her upcoming marriage.

    1. Laurel, I too felt a bit off when I was coping those since now a days they have it all in files in their computers. However this is linked to emotions and those are recipes made for both our kids when they were tiny and growing up it deserved a chance to be passed along in this format! :) Not sure if daughter will like it but here it goes. I am glad you made similar thing for your daughters, no, you're not nuts and either am I, we are great mom's that's it! Thank you so much for your visit here.
