Jan. 2019!

2018 wasn't perfect with all the health issues among us here but it has been all clear and we are all fine. Praise to our Lord for all the blessings. We got a healthy grandchild and son finished law school so we are thankful for these blessings in 2018. It was quiet for the three of us here for New Year's eve. We all enjoy the quietness and peace. Thank you so very much for your visits and kind comments during the past year. We wish each one of you a peaceful, healthy and  happy  new year in 2019!
 Sun dogs in the am
This was our simple Christmas supper table. We usually have supper on the 25th and then open gifts.
Meat loaf using a recipe from Iowa. Recipe at the end of post.

And the sun shines for us all in this planet!
It's all calm in the village.

The sun coming up in the morning, it is my favorite time of the day. Sunsets brings feelings of sadness to me but the dawn is happy, hopeful and full of possibilities.
These were the easy cookies we baked. I have nothing against baking pre-made cookies. We also made some ginger cookies and others that my son likes.
 Creamy wild rice soup recipe

We have been getting plenty of snow. We have 8 degrees Fahrenheit out now (-13 Celsius)  and it feels much warmer than last night at -15 (-26.1 Celsius.) However I know that we get a lot colder than this. Let's just hope it doesn't get that cold.
This table wasn't all ready, missing the homemade rolls (gift from someone in church) and there is no salt and pepper shakers at the table. We are the epitome of simplicity. It was only the 3 of us here...ok the two cats also.  Eating black eye peas is a tradition from long time ago. Brazilian style chicken with that is also tradition for us. This was our New Year's eve!
It was nice to worship and enjoy all the special music.

Happy New Year!! May 2019 be a marvelous year!!  I hope to get a few crochet projects and sewing done in 2019.  Yes there are many things I want to get done in 2019 but I am speaking only of crafts at the moment. What do you want to get done in 2019?
